چکیده

Droperidol 5 mg and 10 mg and diazepam 10 mg were compared in premedication studies with morphine 10 mg and saline. Droperidol caused less hypnosis than either morphine or diazepam, and its use was associated with a much higher incidence of anxiety among patients than was observed in the group who had received saline only. Dizziness and restlessness were also significant features of the action of droperidol. There was no evidence of any gross effect on cardiovascular system stability. The incidence of sickness following droperidol was similar to that in the saline and diazepam groups.

Comparison of the use of domperidone, droperidol and metoclopramide in the prevention of nausea and vomiting following gynaecological surgery in day cases.

The efficacy of domperidone 20 mg, droperidol 2.5 mg, metoclopramide 10 mg or placebo (saline) administered i.v. before induction of anaesthesia, was studied in 199 women undergoing gynaecological surgery as day cases. Following a standardized general anaesthetic technique, droperidol or metoclopramide significantly reduced the incidence of nausea and vomiting; domperidone decreased the inciden...

Alterations in response to somatic pain associated with anaesthesia. XIX: Studies with the drugs used in neuroleptanaesthesia.

The effects of some intravenously administered drugs on sensitivity to tibial pressureinduced somatic pain were investigated in a controlled, double-blind trial. The drugs included those commonly employed in neuroleptanaesthesia (fentanyl, phenoperidine and droperidol), standard opiates (morphine, diamorphine), and a standard tranquillizer (diazepam). The analgesics were given in what are commo...

Malignant hyperthermia syndrome in an anxious patient.

A 30-yr-old patient with fulminant ulcerative colitis was anaesthetized on three occasions, for colectomy and rectal stump removal. The first anaesthesia, with droperidol and fentanyl and pancuronium neuromuscular block, was uneventful. Addition of suxamethonium on the second occasion and use of the original drugs plus nitrous oxide for the third anaesthesia produced symptoms of MH, which was c...

The influence of neuroleptanalgesic drugs on cerebrospinal fluid pressure.

The effects of the neuroleptanalgesic drug combinations, droperidol 5 mg + phenoperidine 1.5 mg, and droperidol 5 mg + fentanyl 0.1 mg, on the cerebrospinal fluid (c.s.f.) pressure, have been studied in patients with normal c.s.f. pathways during controlled ventilation. The influence of droperidol 5 mg+fentanyl 0.1 mg on intracranial pressure has also been investigated in patients with intracra...

Ondansetron and droperidol in the prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting.

We have performed a prospective, randomized, double-blind clinical study to assess the efficacy of ondansetron, droperidol, or both, in preventing postoperative emesis. We studied 242 patients undergoing biliary or gynaecological surgery under general anaesthesia. Shortly before induction of anaesthesia, patients received: saline i.v. (group I, n = 62); droperidol 2.5 mg i.v. (group 2, n = 60);...
